St. Xavier's Sr. Sec. School was established in 1983 by Mr. Andrew John Gosain and late Mrs. Emily Gosain. It has come a long way and enjoys a reputation for excellence in academic, sports and cultural activities. The school has grown in leaps and bounds, it has established branches in Panchkula and Mohali. With the Motto, 'Live for Others', the school provides education to people of all classes, castes and religions. With a strength of over 5000 students in 4 establishments, St. Xavier's has become a leading light in education in this region It has well-equipped science and computer laboratories, a well stocked library and a toy room for the Tiny-Tots.

In St. Xavier's, there is a place for everyone from the brightest to the not- so- brilliant. Each child has his or her own talents, hence we have teachers who are qualified and experienced to bring out the best in every student. Our teachers have regular meetings to discuss a common syllabus, method of teaching and assessment plans. Thus, the expertise and experience of all teachers are tapped to give our students the best.

This newsletter is published for parents and well-wishers to have a birds-eye view of our achievements from December,2004 to April.2005.

Euro Euviro Quiz

Karanveer and Shyam of Class IX of our school defeated 9 of the top schools of Chandigarh to win the Euro Euviro Quiz conducted by Eureka Forbes on 28 Jan. 2005. Both boys had the privilege of going to Mumbai to participate in the All India Quiz. Ms. Malina Singh accompanied. The whole trip was paid for by Eureka Forbes.

February, 2005 was an exciting month for the children of St. Xavier's. It was the month of Mini sports. Each and every child from all the classes participated. More than 400 medals were distributed. The children were given equal opportunities to win.

Inter-Xavarian Computer Presentation Competition at St. Xavier's, Chandigarh
February, 2005 also saw a unique competition conducted by the Computer Department of Chandigarh. The students of St. Xavier's Mohali, Panchkula and Chandigarh participated in a Power Point presentation competition. The competitors surprised the judges with their excellent work.

St. Xavier's, Chandigarh organized an Inter-Xavarian Carrom Tournament on the 29 April and 30 April, 2005.Over 120 students participated.

St. Xavier's Chandigarh had the great honour of hosting the All India Frank Anthony Memorial Debate-2005 on 29.4.2005. 7 top ranking schools of North India participated.

Dipen Basak (XI-A) won 1st prize in National Level Rifle shooting held at Shimla in the Month of Jan.05.He won Asian Cup (1st) of Asian level in Rifle Shooting held in Shimla in January, 05. He won Best Individual Shooter Award (2004-05) in Sharp Shooting held in Shimla in Jan.2005. He was also declared “Youngest Trainer” of Northern India (National Level) in Rifle, Pistol Shooting.

Lubna Soni (VIII-B) participated in Badminton School Nationals held at Bombay from 26 th Dec.2004 to 2 Jan.2005

Harneet Brar (Vlll-B), Reetinder Brar (IX-D), Sukhmaneet (VH-A)- (Girls) & Prabhjeet (VIII-B)- (Boy). They are at present representing U.T.Chandigarh at Chattisgarh at the School National Basketball Games.

Ashu Dhir(X-B) won 3rd position in Chess Tournament Under-13 organized by Chandigarh Chess Association on 3rd and 4th Dec.2004 at St. Xavier's Sector44,Chandigarh

Mansi Bhambri (X-C) got 2nd position in Carrom competition organized by St. Xavier's, Chd.

Sahil Sharma (IX-A) won 1st prize in Carrom organized by St. Xavier's Sr. Sec, School.

Prakhar Gusain (11-B): 2nd position in Chess Competition (U-17) held on 4.12.204 in St.Xavier's Sr.Sec.School.Chandigarh.

Nnamdi (VII-E) won Bronze Medal in the Racing Competition held in St. Xavier's Sr. Sec. School. Parnika (VI-C)got 1st position in Dress up Prince organized by St-Xavier's in2004. Parnika (VI-C) got 1st position in Balloon Race organized by St. Xavier's on 26'" February. Prabhjeet Singh Khanna, Angad Singh, Sohal,Tejasvi Sharma & Sorayongchapat Jiratadaporn (VIII-A) won 2nd positions in Emily Memorial Basketball Tournament held on 21.10.2004 at St. Xavier's, Panchkula Geetika (VI-C) got 2nd position in English Writing organized by St. Xavier's on 30th August. Avijeet (VI-C) got 1st position in Dress up Prince organised by St. Xavier's. Avijeet (VI-C) got 1st position in Balloon Race organized by St. Xavier's on 26th February. Simran (VI-C) got 3rd position in English Writing organized by St.Xavier's on 30' August Isha Sharma (VIII-B) got 1st position in the Matka Race Competition organized at School Campus on 29.2.2005. Iqbalpreet (VI-C): 1st position in Simple Race organized by St. Xavier's Shivangi (VI-C) : 1st position in Plate Race organized by St. Xavier's Mankanwar (VI-C): 2nd position in Flat Race organized by St. Xavier's. Parampal Sidhu (VI-E): 1st position in Flat Race held in February 2005 in the School.

Khushboo Khanna (X-C) won 1st position in Antakshari competition held in Sector 17 organised by Samsung Team and won 2nd position in Rangoli competition held at Mount Carmel School.

DaminiSajwan (X-C) won 3rd prize in Painting competition organized by Mount Carmel,Sector47 on 13.1.2005

Rajvir Kaur (IX-D) got 3rd position in 200 meter Race held on 25.1.2005, got 1st position in Relay held on 25.1.2005,2nd in Proficiency held on 12.12.2004, 2nd in Long Jump held on 25.1.2005, organised by Mount Carmel School. Mehtiana (HSP).

Amanajot Kaur (IX-E) got 1st position in Martial Arts organized by the Mount Carmel School on 15.1.2005.

DhruvWalia (VIII-C) won 1st position and the 1st prize in Salad making contest organized by the Mount Carmel School.

LakshayDhamiJa (VIII-C) won 3rd prize in Dry Flower Competition organized by the Mount Carmel School.

Girish Sud (VI-A) participated in XVIIIth National Children's Chess Championship-04 during the period 23rd to 31th Dec. 04 under-9 (Boys.)
